Magazine

As a trained magazine journalist, I bring an editor’s eye and inquisitive nature to stories. Those include thoroughly reported feature stories, personality profiles, service articles and research-driven reviews. I take pride in the craft and storytelling, always asking: Who’s reading? What matters to the audience?

How can we deliver relevant, in-demand information in a different way?

Love of Magazines

I’ve been a lover of magazines since my first issues of Seventeen and Sassy as a girl, quickly developing a taste for RollingStone and its literary journalism, and eventually turning the pages of any perfect-bound glossy (and matte, too) title I could get my hands on.

I attended Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, where I served as an arts and feature writer for the independent newspaper, The Post, and later a columnist while acting as editor of Southeast Ohio magazine. Hungry for every opportunity to write, I moved into the magazine world as a professional writer and editor. Since then, I have served in a range of capacities for B2B, trade and consumer publications.

JOURNALIST
AND AUTHOR

My writing has diversified to encompass content marketing, copywriting and ghostwriting — and of course, magazine, which drew me to this fulfilling and every-day-is-different career. I cover a range of topics and industries: home and design, garden and landscape, healthcare, education, business, lake living and product reviews.

After serving as a magazine editor, I launched my business WriteHand Co. in 2004, and the writing has taken me across industries, around the world, into complex subjects and lives, and always back to my roots of engaging interviews and storytelling.
