Kristen Hampshire is an award-winning freelance journalist, author and copywriter. She’s curious, not afraid to ask the tough questions and versatile in her ability to dive deep into the most complex industries and produce copy that speaks their language. She can shift from writing about percutaneous coronary intervention to how to build a pergola. She has penned articles on kitchen design trends, advanced manufacturing techniques, how to mix up a superfood smoothie, ways to green your business and much more.

Content Focus. Kristen is a trained journalist with experience in magazine, book, online media and the App-based publications. She builds website content for major nonprofit organizations like Cleveland Clinic, international insurance firms, creative agencies and small businesses that are undergoing an online identity overhaul. She writes on behalf of professionals who seek a strong, engaging voice. She comes up catchy taglines and produces compelling marketing copy.

Personalities. With more than 2,000 magazine articles in her files, Kristen has interviewed a range of personalities. She has written profiles about the co-founder of Samuel Adams Brewing Co., Rhonda Kallman, and Debbi Fields of Mrs. Fields cookies. She has interviewed media mogul Ed Snider of Comcast-Spectacor, and big pharm CEO of AmerisourceBergen David Yost. Books. Kristen is author of Dog Lover’s Daily Companion and Cat Lover’s Daily Companion and co-author of Green Guide for Artists (all Quayside Publishing). She is the ghostwriter behind two Cleveland Clinic physician’ titles: Getting a Good Night’s Sleep, and the Cleveland Clinic Guide to Menopause. Kristen is a copy rescue squad, focusing on developmental edits to tease out a book’s voice, reshape its focus or simply clean it up and prepare it for production. She just completed writing two business books, one about a strategic planning system and another in the works about an influential woman business owner (releasing in 2014).

Credits. Recognized as Best In Ohio: Freelancer several years running, Kristen has garnered awards for her magazine work from the Society of Professional Journalists, American Society of Business Press Editors and Press Club of Cleveland. She was a Young Scholar for ASBPE and has snagged first place honors for personality profiles, column writing and business reports. She is a member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA), Society of Professional Journalists and Press Club of Cleveland. Kristen served on the Cleveland board of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA). Off-hours, she is the publicity chair for her Early Childhood PTA as Publicity Chair and is involved in the children’s ministry at Dover Congregational United Church of Christ. She’s a proud P.E.O., which provides educational opportunities to women.
